In the 22nd CUBA (Chinese University Basketball Association) Division 1, TYUT Men’s Basketball Team made its way with consecutive victories, and advanced to the top eight in China among the CUBA "National Elite Eight Club", and finally tied for fifth place.
Due to the impact of the covid-19 epidemic, the competition system of the 22nd CUBA Division 1 was adjusted. The 48 teams across the country were divided into eight groups for group competitionsm, and the top four in the group entered the second stage where the top 32 came to the single-elimination rounds until the winner and runner-up were decided.
On August 16th, the game officially started in Quanzhou, Fujian. TYUT Men’s Basketball Team defeated the Capital University of Economics and Business, Nanchang University, East China Jiaotong University and Shandong University of Science and Technology, and won the first place in the group with a record of complete victories on condition that the head coach Gujani was unable to command on scene due to the epidemic and the two main players were injured.
During the elimination series, TYUT defeated Huazhong University of Science and Technology and Beijing Sport University successively and advanced to the top eight and ranked among the CUBA "National Elite Eight Club". In the semi-final on August 26th, the men's basketball team lost to China University of Mining and Technology by a score of 60:64. This is the 20th time in the history of CUBA that TYUT men's basketball team has entered the national quarterfinals.
